The world’s best cyclists are coming to Yorkshire to take part in the UK’s biggest sporting event in 2019.

The 2019 UCI Road World Championships take place for nine days in September bringing in thousands of riders and spectators.

Northallerton will be hosting the start of one of the most prestigious events of the championships - the Men Elite Time Trial. The event on Wednesday 25 September 2019 will see cyclists set off from the High Street before racing out to Bedale on their way to the finish line in Harrogate. It’s not the only time spectators in Hambleton district will get the chance to see the riders - both the Women and Men Elite Road Races will pass through West Tanfield on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September 2019.

This is truly world class sport on our doorstep.

The championships which take place from 21–29 September 2019 will bring in thousands of riders and their crews across the nine days of races. It will also feature a para-cycle race around Harrogate for the first time in its history. Starts also go from Beverley, Bradford, Doncaster, Harrogate, Leeds, Ripon, Richmond, Tadcaster and Wetherby with all the races finishing in Harrogate.

Yorkshire 2019 says this about Northallerton "Northallerton is the county town of North Yorkshire, nestled between the Yorkshire Dales National Park to its west and the North York Moors National Park to the east. The bustling centre, with its wide High Street and variety of shops, cafes and pubs, will provide the perfect backdrop as the world’s best elite male time triallists set off on their testing trip to Harrogate."
